A DIY 168 Sq Ft Backyard Studio

A couple from Gloucester, Massachusetts, decided to turn an old backyard shed into something useful and functional. They set a budget of $10,000 and set to work transforming the space into an area they could use as a workspace and as a guesthouse.

Almost all of the studio's materials came from reclaimed/salvaged sources. The shed's new mahogany exterior, for example, was both purchased off Craigslist and salvaged from dumpsters.

When the space was finished, there was room for the family's children to play, a work area, and a murphy bed for visiting guests to sleep on. An oil drum fireplace was also added to create a space for outdoor entertainment!
