Tiny Cabin in Normandy (215 Sq Ft)

Longueuil, France // 215 Sq Ft // Built by Arba

In the picturesque region of Normandy, France, architects Jean-Baptiste Barache, Sihem Lamine, and Pierre Gourvennec of arba have crafted a compact cabin that harmoniously blends with its serene surroundings. Situated just a short distance from the captivating sea and limestone cliffs, this blackened timber-clad retreat offers a true connection to nature.

Designed with large glass doors adorned with sliding wood slats, the cabin effortlessly merges the interior with the lush landscape. An expansive wood deck on the front facade extends the living space, creating a seamless transition between the indoors and outdoors, allowing residents to savor an enchanting indoor/outdoor experience.

Originally commissioned as a retreat, this  20-m² (215-square-foot) cabin holds the promise of becoming the owners' retirement home. On the ground floor, the kitchen, bathroom, living, and dining areas offer a comfortable and functional living space. A wooden ladder leads to two cozy bedroom lofts on the second level, providing a peaceful haven for relaxation.

To infuse warmth and coziness into the cabin, a Cove 5 metal fireplace from Charnwood takes center stage. Meanwhile, the bathroom boasts vibrant green mosaic tile covering the walls and floor, while a varnished wood soaking tub adds a touch of luxury to the space.

Embracing the natural beauty of Normandy, this thoughtfully designed cabin offers a tranquil retreat for its owners. Surrounded by the idyllic landscape, it provides a serene sanctuary to reconnect with nature, unwind, and embrace a more sustainable way of living.
