The Ohariu Tiny House (186 Sq Ft)

This sleek, modern tiny home is a collaboration between two New Zealand tiny house companies. The house was designed by First Light Studio, an architecture firm, and built by BuildTiny.

The 186 sq ft home is off-grid capable and comes powered with an installed solar system. It’s also been built on a light-weight steel frame with the idea of being able to be moved easily.

The exterior of the home is clad in black corrugated iron with a contrasting bright interior made from poplar core plywood. The double glass doors at the entrance of the tiny home open up into a spacious living room, which features a built-in nook with a roll-out sofa, a large picture window, and plenty of built-in storage drawers.

For meal prep, a small galley kitchen has everything you need, including stainless steel countertops, a stainless steel oven, a two-burner propane cooktop, sink, coffee bar, and lots of cabinet space! There’s also a drop-down dining table with room for two.

The home’s bathroom features a tiled shower with a glass door, a large vanity with a ceramic sink, and a bamboo composting toilet.

Moving into the upstairs, via storage stairs, is the home’s loft bedroom. There’s room for a queen-size mattress, plus a skylight to allow the home’s inhabitants to star-gaze at night!
