The Northern Nomad (220 Sq Ft)
Ottawa, ON | 220 Sq Ft | ~$100,000 CAD
Students at Carleton University have recently unveiled their latest project to the public: an off-grid tiny house named the Northern Nomad. The 220-sq-ft home was designed “to demonstrate technologies and materials that would produce enough renewable energy on site to meet…its energy needs”.
The Northern Nomad was created to suit the needs of its cold Canadian climate. The house can heat and cool it's using an energy-efficient system and can withstand -25C temperatures without generating any emissions. Some of the home’s off-grid features include a composting toilet, Tesla battery, and a rainwater collection system.
Perhaps the best part of the home is the affordability. At around $100,000 CAD, the home is less than a fourth of the average Ottawa home price!
